Preventative Maintenance

This procedure involves inspecting your computer systems in order to identify and prevent possible faults before they happen. By doing this, unexpected periods of down time (periods where equipment is under repair) can be avoided, as this work is scheduled to take place at a time most convenient for you (e.g. evening / night / weekend). We recommend that all systems are given a
health check at least twice a year and it's simple to synchronise this with your preventative maintenance schedule. To discuss the available options with one of our engineers, please call 01803 610085 or by clicking here.

Easy Fixes to Common Problems - By Ease-e-pc

Here are something's you might want to try before you consult or call in a technician. Remember, always look for the obvious first, & check computer manuals if you can.

Are all cables connected? After securing connections, reboot the computer and see if it works.

It's important to reboot your computer because some changes will only be reflected after you reboot the machine.
Is the computer turned on? Is the CPU turned on and the monitor turned off or vice versa? Is your surge protector plugged in and working? You should see a light on it if it is working properly.
If your machine is connected on a network, did you log on this morning? If you didn't log on, there are probably resources that are unavailable to you such as shared drives or printers.
Did you recently load new software? Often times, you won't see a problem until after you reboot the machine.

You may not know the program you loaded caused problems until the next morning when you boot your machine.

If all else fails, reboot the machine. Try a warm boot "ctrl + alt + delete" or even a cold boot by turning the power switch off then on again.
